The new regulations of the University Grants Commission (UGC) have sparked a new controversy across the country. Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand of Jyotishpeeth, who returned to Kashi from Prayagraj, has levelled serious allegations against the central government on Thursday regarding the UGC issue.

He alleged that the government wants to divide Sanatan Dharma and incite conflict between different castes, adding that ”the new regulations are completely anti-Sanatan Dharma.”

He claimed that there is no hope for justice under the current government, and this is the message being sent to the entire country. ”The whole country witnessed how young students were humiliated by having their sacred threads (sikha) pulled. The true face of the government and the administration has been exposed. They neither acknowledged their mistake nor made any attempt to rectify it,” he claimed.

Regarding the UGC’s new regulations, Swami Avimukteshwaranand said that ”these rules have been deliberately introduced to prevent discussion of the real shortcomings”. He said, ”In the system of Sanatan Dharma, castes were not created for conflict, but to secure the livelihood and balance of all sections of society. What does the government ultimately want to achieve in the country with this law?”

The Shankaracharya alleged that through the UGC, one caste has been pitted against another, which will increase conflict in society. ”This will lead to increased internal conflict, and ultimately, the entire Hindu society will suffer. This is a law that divides the Hindu community itself,” he alleged.
